Program Audit and Evaluation (PA&E)

The Program Audit and Evaluation domain manages the evaluation of learning experiences and the results that are derived from those experiences. These results will be used to answer questions related to the determination of academic standing, academic risk, semester or commencement honors, etc. Other areas of Kuali Student and the institution use learning experiences as a means to answer questions such as those related to financial aid eligibility, program admission criteria, prerequisites, athletic eligibility, etc. This need can also be served by PA&E.

PA&E provides a powerful tool to the institution for obtaining data to support various types of decision-making activities. The domain has a broad understanding of how learners are utilizing learning units. This understanding is broader than simply 'what' a learner has done or plans to do. The unique value of Program Audit and Evaluation is adding the extra layer of 'why' a learning experience is consumed by a learner (e.g. Five learners enrolled in Spanish I). Two of those used the course to satisfy a major requirement, one to satisfy a minor requirement, and two for a personal language acquisition learning objective). One example of a process that would benefit greatly is in the development and adjustment of curricula. PA&E will support curriculum development by providing data on how learners are using learning units.
