Student Financials (SFS)

The Student Financials domain is based on a retail business model for an organization that is responsible for selling a wide variety of products and services, provided by a number of different suppliers, to a wide variety of customers. The system's reliance on rules will allow any number of Financial Domains (e.g. Tuition, Housing, Library, Food Services, Parking) to be incorporated into the SFS.

The Pricing and Assessment rules, Invoicing rules, Payment Option rules and Revenue Distribution rules will reside within the Product/Service service. For example, LUM (Learning Unit Management) will support pricing information for courses and programs.

he SFS will support what-if scenarios allowing learners, prospects or any interested party to determine the cost of products and services offered by the institution.

While all domains will need some common service to do routine and ad hoc data mining, it is important to note that "reporting" for the purposes of SFS has an additional fundamental difference. The SFS will report, for auditing and compliance purposes, to official offices, such as the federal government. This may include basic data statistics or information on processes.
