process. It will be sustained by an international community of institutions and firms. Find out who’s involved, how and when it will be developed.

The Kuali Foundation Connection

Kuali Student is being developed under the umbrella of the Kuali Foundation. This affiliation allows the project to leverage and contribute to the Foundation’s community of interest, adopt established licensing processes, benefit from existing communications and technical expertise, and contribute to Kuali’s full suite of community source applications for higher-education institutions.

Open Source License

Kuali Student will be distributed at no cost through the Educational Community License V2.0 (ECL V2.0) granted by the Kuali Foundation. This license will make all Kuali Student software and materials available to colleges and universities around the world without licensing fees.

Community of Interest

The Kuali Student Community of Interest includes universities, colleges, international institutions, and commercial affiliates that will sustain future maintenance, enhancement, and development of the Kuali Student product.

Development Costs

Collectively, the participating institutions are contributing more than $40 million over a 5-year period. In addition, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation is contributing $2.5 million during the initial 2½ years of the project. We estimate $50 million will be required to fund the Kuali Student project over the next 5 years.
